Traffic authorities determined to reduce road deaths

MAMELODI – It is the festive season, a time for family, friends and good cheer but the sad reality is that many people die on our roads over this period.

The national government says it’s determined to reduce the death toll and law enforcers have an arsenal of technology and vehicles to do just that.

Massive roadblocks from Maubane to Harrismith have been set up to identify and arrest lawbreakers.Visible policing will be a priority for the traffic authorities, as well as equipment upgrades to detect stolen vehicles.

Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula said, “the road safety campaign, it is about me, it is about you and it is about our responsibility as South Africans to keep our roads safe.”
