Tax charges against Bonang Matheba struck off the roll

Bonang Matheba’s tax evasion charges were struck off the roll at the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.

The media personality was facing 15 counts of contravening the country’s tax laws; 11 of the charges are for alleged personal non-compliance for the years 2008 to 2017, and four are for outstanding bills for her company in the reporting period 2014 to 2017.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that Bonang had paid the fine and requested that the matter be removed from the roll.

Bonang has not paid personal taxes for nine years. She also failed to pay company tax for three years.
