Social grants increment announced

    Mosia said they encourage beneficiaries not to withdraw all their money in one day or the first day of the month.

    The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) informs all its beneficiaries about the annual increment which was announced by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni when he delivered his budget speech on February 26.

    According to Sassa Gauteng spokesperson Nandi Mosia, the increases will be effective as of April 1.

    The following will apply:

    • R80 increase for old age, disability and care dependency grants to R1 860 per month

    • R80 increase in the war veterans’ grant to R1 880 per month

    • R40 increase for the foster care grant to R1 040 per month and

    • The child support grant will increase by R20 to R440 from April 1 and then to R450 from October 1.

    Mosia said they encourage beneficiaries not to withdraw all their money in one day or the first day of the month.

    “Funds can be withdrawn at ATMs, merchants and SAPO outlets on different days throughout the month in accordance to the beneficiaries’ needs,” said Mosia
