Second heatwave hits Gauteng

JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng residents are to familiarize themselves with sunscreen as the province is in the grips of another heatwave.

It is expected that temperatures will only drop on Tuesday. It is the second heatwave this month and it may not be the last.

William Simanga from the South African Weather Services says this kind of weather is normal and is to be expected in the summer months. “The average temperature in summer in most of our areas is 29 to 30 degrees,” says Simanga.

The weather which exceeds these temperatures by five degrees or more is considered a heatwave.
