JOHANNESBURG – South African Communist Party says public funds cannot be used to rescue a capitalist system.

This is according to SACP’s Solly Mapaila, reacting to the National Economic Development and Labour Council’s (Nedlac) new economic recovery plan.

“We need enough resources to intervene in the dire needs of the country to provide food security for the people, water,  and deal with the crisis of social reproduction.”

“We are talking about issues which are bread and butter.”

The recovery plan aims to drive infrastructure investment and local manufacturing, and improve SA’s ability to compete and create jobs.
