SA lockdown: Street vendors want compensation

JOHANNESBURG – Durban street vendors are appealing to government to consider compensating them for the losses they will incur during the lockdown.

Initially, they weren’t allowed to trade but have now been given the green light.

Some say they have already suffered and will continue to do so because there are no customers.

To make matters worse, informal traders say the councillors’ offices where they’re supposed to get their permits are closed and they are being victimised by police.
