Ramaphosa hails amaXhosa King as a great leader


    WILLOWVALE – President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the late amaXhosa King Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu as a great leader.

    He was delivering the eulogy at the amaXhosa King’s funeral at Willowvale in the Eastern Cape. Ramaphosa has also spoken of the King’s influence beyond the borders of South Africa.

    “He has left behind a legacy of a visionary leadership that will live on,” he said

    “He may have passed on to the next life, but the example he set on the meaning of leadership on advancing social cohesion and also on service to one’s fellow human being will be imparted beyond his brief time,” Ramaphosa said.

    The King died earlier this month after a short illness.King Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu was accorded a category 1 funeral.He had been King since January 2006.

    King Zwelonke Sigcawu was coronated in 2015 at Nqadu Great Place, the occasion marked the first coronation of a king in the amaXhosa nation in 50-years.
