President Cyril Ramaphosa appoints ministers to work with leaders of #AlexTotalShutdown


On 11 April, President Cyril Ramaphosa was in Alexandra to campaign for the upcoming elections.

Ramaphosa addressed thousands of residents who have been calling for Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba to address them over their grievances.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised to build a million houses for the residents of Alexandra, following protests over illegal housing structures, waste management and crime in the area.

The President has tasked four ministers of his cabinet and provincial government to meet and work with the leaders of the #AlexTotalShutdown to find quick solutions to matters raised by the residents.

He ordered the committee to present a report on his table before the end of this week. The team of ministers include the Minister of Human Settlements Nomaindia Mfeketho, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Zweli Mkhize, Minister of Home Affairs Siyaboga Cwele and Minister of Small Businesses and Medium enterprise Lindiwe Zulu.

The president also tasked Gauteng Premier David Makhura to meet with the mayor Herman Mashaba to discuss a way forward in resolving and accelerating issues of service delivery in Alexandra.
