My name is Lelethu Khashe and I am 19 years old. I am a finalist for Miss Township South Africa 2020, LLB Law student at the University of Johannesburg, Executive Member at House of Salvation Community Church and Brand Ambassador of Reatlegile Charity which is a Non-Profit Organization aimed at empowering the youth to reach their full potential through career guidance expos, girl child mentorship programmes and business development programmes. Being a part of this platform, coupled with my passion to serve enables me to give back to my community in a much more pragmatic way.
I am also an advocate for self-confidence, self-worth and independence which are important values my mother instilled in me and which I hope to share with young women.
Miss and Mrs Township South Africa is a beauty pageant and empowerment programme that was established by former Mrs South Africa finalist, Koketso Makua. The program was developed after identifying a gap for a formal beauty pageant that is focused on re-shaping the narrative of women who come from the township, not only their surroundings but themselves.
I decided to join this movement like our pageant director likes to call it, because I have seen and admired how platforms such these empower and uplift women and I want to be one of those women. Additionally, they allow one to improve their skill sets and make a difference in their townships by engaging in charitable initiatives through the foundation, Little Girl Arise by Koketso Makua.
Furthermore, as one of the youth leaders of House of Salvation Community Church, I believe I have the necessary leadership skills and ability to take on the responsibility of being Miss Township South Africa 2020 and I have experience in public speaking which will enable me to best represent the pageant and my community and also allow me to motivate and inspire the youth through public speaking.
People can support my journey by voting for me by SMS’ing Lelethu Khashe to 36996 and companies through their sponsorship. I am available through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
