Joyful moments for Gogo Nonhlanhla after years of struggle


    Nonhlanla Patience Sithole(64) a mother of 8 children who sadly lost two of her kids,thought Christmas has come early when she received a call informing her that her house has been approved in Block 07 stand no 196 at River Sands. All her documents were captured on 11 November 2000. You can imagine the joy that come with the news that now finally her dream of having a house for her beloved children has finally came true, even though it was not an easy task for her.

    The local housing officials had to intervene in this matter before they could hand in the keys to her, they had to make sure that all processes and systems of the Department of housing are adhered to. The housing officials instructed Gogo Patience to come to the housing offices where she was granted the keys to her new home. The very same Monday she was accompanied to her shack in extension 1 to take all her belongings before the shack was demolished.

    Tears of joy flew on Patience’s face after being handed the house keys, electric box together with the papers of ownership.’’ I can now say I witnessed the progress made by local government in our communities and that I’m happy with the progress,’’ concluded Patience
