Fatal accident involving Rea Vaya bus in Parktown yesterday.


    The City of Joburg regrets a fatal accident involving a Rea Vaya bus, three private cars and a motorbike this morning at around 8.30 at the Corner of Empire and Victoria in Parktown. The driver of a motorbike and his son who was a passenger on the motorbike died instantly and one of the occupants of the private cars was injured and taken to hospital.

    JMPD, SAPS and EMS were able to arrive at the scene immediately and were able to offer assistance and to direct the flow of traffic. “We are deeply distressed by the loss of life and injuries of road users. We urge drivers to be extra careful and obey the rules of the road at all times to avoid accidents” said, MMC of Transport, Cllr. Nonhlanhla Makhuba. Transport Department is waiting for the accident report from JMPD and the affected bus operating company, Litsamaiso.
