Alexandra and Soweto Field Bands and the Parktown Boys’ Brass Band are set to entertain the crowds at the FNB Joburg 10K CityRun.

Celebrating its 4th anniversary on 24 September, the FNB Joburg 10k CityRun has become known for its exciting route entertainment.

This year’s event will be no different with the Alexandra and Soweto Field Bands and Parktown Boys’ Brass Band secured and ready to entertain the masses on National Heritage Day, 24 September.

The Field Band Foundation is a non-profit company that aims to use the marching band to provide critical life-skills to young people from under-resourced areas in seven of South Africa’s nine provinces. The band members are between 10 to 21 years old.

The Field Band’s foundation communications and events officer Refilwe Pico, said, “The Soweto Field Band was established in 1997, while the Alexandra Field Band was established in 2000. Both bands will be seen in action at the 2019 FNB Joburg 10K CityRun.

“This will be our fourth year performing at the FNB Joburg 10K CityRun. We are excited about this because such events give our members the opportunity to showcase their musical and dancing skills. Being part of this event has been a fun and eye-opening experience for our members and we are looking forward to contributing to the ambiance on the event day.”
