Did you know today, 19 November, is World Toilet Day? In light of this, check out the latest development at Paradise Bend Primary School.
In answer to President Ramaphosa and Finance Minister Tito Mboweni’s call for individuals, donors and private companies to fund projects that will bring about the eradication of pit latrine toilets within two years, the Donate-a-Loo Schools Project has been officially launched with the unveiling of six ‘enviro’ loos which have been installed at Paradise Bend Primary School in Diepsloot at a cost of R15 000 per unit.
Helene Bramwell, the woman behind the Donate-a-Loo Schools Project, said her goal is to ‘gift’ toilets to some of the neediest schools in Gauteng until such time as the education department can provide permanent toilets with running water.
This is their first school site but they plan to roll out this initiative to earmarked schools in the Gauteng area as they receive funding.
