Diepsloot detectives’ relentless efforts in tracing wanted suspects continue to bear fruit as three arrests, on separate murder cases, were made in a space of a week.
On Tuesday night, 19 October 2021, Diepsloot detectives arrested a 29-year-old suspect for a murder he is alleged to have committed on 18 October 2021, in extension 7. The suspect allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old brother to death following an argument. Soon after committing the crime, he fled to Soweto and was successfully traced and arrested. He is due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 22 October 2021.
Meanwhile, a 46-year-old murder suspect, who was on the run since December 2020, was arrested through an informer in Olivenhoutbosch on 15 October 2021. The suspect allegedly struck his 32-year-old girlfriend with a brick on the head – fatally wounding her and fled the scene. He has since appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 18 October 2021 and will appear in the same court for a bail application on Monday, 25 October 2021.
This morning, 21 October 2021, murder accused – Bhekithemba Mathe (19) is making his second appearance in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court for bail application. He allegedly stabbed a 17-year-old male victim on Saturday night, 09 October 2021, following an altercation. The victim was rushed to the hospital and sadly succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was arrested on 12 October 2021 after being pointed out by eyewitnesses.
Diepsloot Station Commander, Brigadier Koena Moichela has commended members for effecting the arrests and maintained that this will go a long way in addressing serious crimes in this community. He further urged detectives to intensify tracing operations and ensure that wanted suspects are brought to book.
