JOHANNESBURG – University students across South Africa are calling on their administrations to cancel contact classes in lieu of the rising number of people infected with COVID-19 in the country.
Some universities have also announced they will be limiting contact classes and suspending academic activities to assist with infection control.
One Wits medical student was diagnosed with the virus and has been in isolation since Wednesday last week.
Major universities including the University of the Western Cape, Stellenbosch University, CUPT and DUT have not announced changes to their academic programme at the time of publishing.
