COVID-19: SA infections near 200,000

    JOHANNESBURG – Close to 9,000 new infections have been reported, bringing the number of positive cases in South Africa close to 200,000.

    The Health Department also reported a further 173 COVID-19 related deaths.SA’s COVID-19 death toll is now at 3,199.

    The Health Department recorded 71 new deaths in Gauteng, 40 in the Western Cape, 29 in the Eastern Cape and 21 in KZN.

    The Free State reported 10 deaths and the Northern Cape recorded two.Just over 93,000 of those who tested positive, have recovered.
