Alexandra community members had a meeting today, discussing the way forward after service delivery protests that started on 03 April.
The residents were believing that The Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba will address them today but he failed to come even though they have sent him an inviation.
The organiser of the protest Sandile Mavundla has confirmed that residents have agreed to embark on a total shutdown on 8 April after Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba failed to attend the meeting after being invited.
The residents are threatening to invade the City’s Region E offices in Sandton after the meeting. Some have brought tyres as a sign of readiness to shut down the streets. The issue of service delivery and housing were the most pressing issues raised by the residents.
Hundreds of community members, young and old said they are ready to take up arms and put everything on a standstill.
