Adam Catzavelos appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s court on the morning of the 13th June 2019.
Adam Catzavelos, the man who caused an uproar in 2018 after a video emerged of him using the K word (Kaffir) while on Holiday in Greece appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s court on the 13th June 2019.
He was on a holiday when he recorded a video of himself on a beach making racist comments.
The Economic Freedom Fighters laid criminal charges of crimen injuria against him. The EFF released a statement saying “they will not rest until racism is defeated in our land”., chargers were laid by the chairperson of the EFF in Gauteng Mandisa Mashego following the video that went viral last year.
The family business suffered a loss in the trade as a result, Catzavelos have since apologies for the damage.
Adam Catzavelos was represented by his new lawyer Lowley Shein, Shein said he will make an application to the NDPP and has asked the court to postpone this case to next month on the 10th July 2019 to allow him to make representations to the National Director of Public Prosecutions.
Catzavelos has been served with a summons by Greece authorities retailing to this case. His lawyer says it is in Greek and is waiting for it to be translated.
Catzavelos was speaking to media after the court proceedings and said, “in my moment of madness that I had last year, I’m completely embarrassed and ashamed of myself, I express my Sympathy and sorrow to anyone upset.” He was covering his face with a Jacket as he left the building.
